Titik Awal Book Documents Multi-Generation Architects As a Learning Process

OMAH Library launched their latest publication titled Titik Awal, through a series of event on December 8 to 9, 2018. The book launch consists of three events. the primary event was a book discussion with Titik Awal as the subject led by the exhibition director, Gregorius G. Gerard, along with the book’s editorial team, Florent Fernisia R., and Rifandi S. Nugroho.
Titik Awal book is an archive book that documents eighteen architects’ final projects during 1980-2000. Gregorius elaborated that the initial idea of this book production sparked when the exhibition of Titik Awal 2017 was taking place. This book was written to spread the information towards a broader audience that hasn’t had the chance to visit the exhibition, as well as to provide a more comprehensive content. Hence, the book content includes three components: the final project’s archive, explanation, and interview transcript which complement the exhibition materials.
Rifandi added that the approach of conducting an interview was determined by OMAH Library to gain insights on the architect’s view towards his/her own final projects after many years of practicing as an architect. That makes the focus of this book not solely about the final project documentation but also an elaboration of events that happened during the making of the final project. This book then becomes a medium to recollect the selected architects’ journey of the process during different periods, with different curriculums.
