“Future Cities: Shifting Toward 4.0 Mega Trends”

Urbanization is increasing at unprecedented rate that will likely change the way we live as society. The UN reported that two-third of the world population will live in urban areas by 2050 and at least 40 megacities will have a population of more than 10 million. The rapid development of cities and population is expected to generate 80% of global economic growth and wealth. However, they also present major global challenges in economic issues (income disparity, inflation, unemployment, poverty), demographic trends (immigration, the aging of population, social divisions), health issues such as global disease, and environmental consequences (energy inefficiency, waste, pollution). Amid such pressures, cities are expected to increase its resilience and sustainability. One critical attempt that cities could embrace is through the use of technology and a transformation toward smart city.
Asia Mayors Forum provides a platform for policy dialogue and knowledge sharing through presentations and discussions on key aspects related to the implementation of sustainable urban development and explore the way to responsibly take advantage of digital revolution by application of smart city concept.
Mayors and other leaders from Asia will exchange experiences (successes and challenges) including policies, programs, practices, initiatives as well as actions at local level helping in achieving happier, wealthier, easier, and more sustainable urban ecosystem. This forum will contribute to bringing the voice of local government in both countries up to the national and international level.
